1. Top Level Domain (TLD)

a. Country Code Top Level Domains (ccTLD)

ccTLD is a domain based on the geographic naming of a country such as .id for Indonesia, .us for the United States, and .au for Australia.

The ccTLD domain can be registered by anyone even if it is not a citizen of the country concerned. For example, if you live in Indonesia, but you can create a website domain with the extension .au which is CCTLD for Australia.

b. Generic Top Level Domain (gTLD)

gTLD is a public domain that anyone can use. GDTL is suitable for those of you who need popular domain extensions such as .com or .org. Besides that, you will not be bothered with various requirements.

c. Premium Top Level Domain (PTLD)

PTLD is a domain whose naming is customizable. For example .site, .web, .travel, .host, .doctor or other extensions.

PTLD explains more about the specifications of a website. Like the use of the .travel domain on websites that discuss travel or websites that provide travel products or services. Likewise with other custom extensions.

2. Second Level Domain

The second-level domain is the domain name that you registered. For example cdn.biz. Well, the word “cdn” is the second-level domain.

3. Third Level Domain

The third Level Domain is also known as the subdomain. Subdomains are used for specific purposes. For example, creating sub information that is separated from the main domain but is still related and used for internal business purposes in the company.

For example, cdn.biz has a subdomain such as news.cdn.biz which is used for the benefit of companies to publish news, activities, and important information about the company. The word “news” is a third-level domain or subdomain.

Domain Definitions

1. Domain Registration

The period of an active domain after registration is at least 1 year or 365 days.

2. Grace Period / Grace Period

After 365 days, the domain will expire (expire) and enter a grace period. The duration of the grace period is 40 days. At this time your domain cannot function and cannot display the website.

3. Redemption Period

After 40 days, your domain will experience a breakout period. The breakout period is 30 days long. At this time the domain can be renewed. However, the cost of renewing your domain can be up to 10 times the normal renewal price.

4. Pending Deletion

When your domain enters the pending deletion period, your domain can no longer be renewed. The deletion pending period is 5 days and after that, it can be registered again.
